Club Layouts
Permanent Layout - The West Wisconsin Railroad
Layout Footprint - Meeting Room
Adjacent to the rooms that house the layout is a room where
we hold our large group meetings. It may be used for a work
space between meetings. It also has a small portion of
the layout, the staging yard and wye for turning trains. Here is
the footprint for this room. The track shown is for illustration
only and may not be the final design.
Meeting Room Shelves
Notice the light gray area on the east (top) side of the diagram. This is a set of shelves. Here are 3 of the 5 Objectives of WWRC from our Bylaws:
- 101.2 To assist in public historical education and provide a means of mentoring.
- 101.3 To display, and demonstrate the benefits and history of model railroading as a hobby.
- 101.4 To provide historical information on the impact Railroading has had in the development and growth of our nation and its continued impact today.
These shelves and perhaps others that may be installed in this room and elsewhere will be used for the following to help meet these 3 Objectives:
- Railroadiana displays (prototype stuff e.g., lanterns, locks, tools, etc)
- Book, magazine, catalog and video lending library
- Pictures, maps, posters
- Shelf-sized train layouts (like a switching layout)
- Model train museum
- Member displays (trains, structures purchased or built by members, dioramas)
- Literature display for distribution (brochures, catalogs, magazines, etc)
- Swap stuff area (for sale, swap, give away)
- Bulletin board
- Event calendar
